“If you are a leader and no one is following, you’re just going for a walk.”
– Cecil E. Roberts
Preserve the Story. Power the Movement.

The Cecil E. Roberts Legacy Fund has been established to honor one of America’s most dynamic and militant labor leaders in our history. Born in a coal company house “15 miles up a holler” in West Virginia, Cecil Roberts rose from humble yet proud roots to become a powerful voice on behalf of coal miners and all workers throughout North America and the globe.
Contributions to the Fund are being accepted. Proceeds will go to the new Cecil E. Roberts Collection in Charleston, W.Va., and other efforts preserving and advancing the preservation of workers’ history and the impact of the Labor Movement on our families, communities and societies.
A Commemorative Book is being produced that will detail his remarkable life, with comments from national and international political, labor and social leaders; colleagues at the United Mine Workers of America; and ordinary workers and their families.
